Where has the time gone?

I am truely the worst at keeping my blogs and websites updated!  I get on facebook every week or so, sometimes more... but do I get on here!  haha....  I told Brett I was going to set an alarm and sit down once a week to update!  We will see how this goes!  :)
So, what has been going on in our lives?  We have been busy...  the end of the year seemed to fly by, and now it is almost March!  Crazy!
I am going to go through my pics and do one massive upload, hopefully later today!  I am hoping to get caught up and on track for the rest of this year!
We are all doing well and good, and enjoying this time of year.  I personally love the winter and miss my time on the mountain.  I secretly hope that one day we can move closer to Brian Head again so that I can go up more often.  But, we are loving the start of spring too.  We were able to go out and ride bikes yesterday evening, and the kids had a ball!  It seems like it has been awhile!
My business has slowed down for the winter, but I have been perfectly content with that, but I am hoping that it will pick back up once it warms up.  I am currently debating whether or not to get involved in bridal shows to maybe book some weddings!  I don't know if it is worth it, but I am considering it.
Well, it is time for the Reflections contest around here, and Brevan has been having a ball taking my other camera out and shooting tons of pictures!  Here is one he captured of me and the girls yesterday, that I just love!  It is a little blurry, but it is perfect to me!  Enjoy, I hope to be posting again later with pics from the end of the year and the new year!  If not, it will wait until next week!  :)

Hawaii, Continued….

So, the second day we were there, we went to the Polynesian Cultural Center.  This is something that I had really wanted to visit, and I wish we would have had more time!

There are 6 or 7 different villages that you can visit; and at each of them there is something to do.  They have shows you can watch, demonstrations, taste testing, etc.  It is so much fun, and there is just so much to see and do that you can’t do it all in one day!  If I were to do it again… I would definitely take at least 2 days for the PCC (code for Polynesian Cultural center, ;).

We took one of their cheap tours, where lunch was included.   The guide was able to get us to all the villages to see some show or taste test something while we were there!  It was a really fun time and we really enjoyed all that we saw and learned!2010 05 22_Hawaii Trip 2010_1097

This is us on the canoe.  We are on our way to the first village.

2010 05 22_Hawaii Trip 2010_1101

We stopped off in Fiji first.  They did a show for us, and we got to help the with the music by pounding these sticks on the ground to the beat of the music.

We then went to Tahiti and watched as they made this Coconut bread.  We got to taste some before we left too… it was really good!

2010 05 22_Hawaii Trip 2010_1110 They have a parade of villages on the river mid-afternoon.  We got excellent seats, thanks to our wonderful guide.  They showed their different dances and the different costumes that they wear.  It was so much fun to see the different attire and dances!

Tahiti… I sure wish I could move my hips like them!  ;)

We then went to the Tongan village, where they put on a hilarious show!!  And, thankfully, the people they chose to bring on stage played right along with them!

2010 05 22_Hawaii Trip 2010_1180

They brought 3 guys up and made them imitate that big guy on the right!  The one that could do it the best won a prize!  All the guys were so funny, that they even had the big guy laughing!  This guys was imitating him perfectly… the voice and everything!  There was this Japanese guy (old guy), and it was hilarious to hear him say the different things and do the yells!  We all had tears running down our faces as we watched them all!

We then went to New Zealand.   They showed us more of their stick games.  It was pretty cool to see them throwing and catching these sticks along to the music.

We then went to Samoa…

Where this guy entertained us with lots of smoking hot jokes and looks…  He thought he was pretty hot. ;)

2010 05 22_Hawaii Trip 2010_1207

But, he showed us how they made fire, and how they cracked and ate the coconuts.  They also had someone climb a tree, and that was amazing!  They have to be pretty strong for that… and brave!!

We then headed into the Luau and dinner…

Then we headed back for the “Ha, Breath of Life” show.

My pics didn’t really turn out great since we couldn’t use a flash… but what an awesome show!!  I recommend it to anyone that goes!!

I just can’t believe how fast they can move their hips!!

This is the guy from Samoa that I showed earlier.  He was amazing!!  At a later point in the show, he was spinning 2 sticks of fire… one in each hand!

And, then we headed back to the motel to get ready to fly to Maui the next day!

I would highly recommend spending a couple days in Oahu to see the PCC!!  You can really have a lot of fun there!

Aloha, Hawaii!

After months of planning… (well, less than one), we finally made our decision of where to go for our vacation!  We couldn’t decide if we wanted to go on a cruise, or go to Hawaii… so we put them both on a piece of paper and put them in a bowl and drew for it!  Ha-ha!  :)  Hawaii was the one that was chosen!  So, we got it planned, booked, and babysitters found, and off we went!

We first went to Oahu…

On the first day there we explored Waikiki a little bit, and then we went parasailing!  It was so much fun!!  I was scared to death, but when we got up there it wasn’t so bad!

The second day, we got up really early, and headed off on a circle tour of the island!  We started with Pearl Harbor and a visit to the Arizona memorial.  This was something Brett and I had really wanted to see.  And, we are glad we were able to.  What a beautiful place!  The whole atmosphere there is peaceful… everyone is so reverent and quiet.  It is just a wonderful atmosphere and Brett and I really enjoyed listening and learning more about what happened that awful day.2010 05 21_Hawaii Trip 2010_1329

The Arizona Memorial and the USS Missouri are right behind us…

After Pearl Harbor, we took off for the tour of the island.  We started at the Dole Pineapple Plantation.

We then stopped off at the beautiful Ko’ola golf course for lunch!  These mountains are just gorgeous!  They say that when it rains, which it does often, that waterfalls are just flowing everywhere.

2010 05 21_Hawaii Trip 2010_1602

Then we headed up to the Pali Lookout.  They say that hundreds of warriors jumped from here when the islanders were at war.  The king told the losing warriors to either surrender or jump for their lives.  They said that around 500 jumped.  And, when they were excavating for the highway, they found around 4o0 bones… so they believe it really did happen.  It was so windy up there, though!  I could barely stand up!  Needless to say, we didn’t stay very long!
